Promotional Product Artwork Electronic Art Specifications
In order to produce your project, we ask that all client-supplied artwork submitted to Banta Promotions be formatted to ASI or PPIA standards. Banta Promotions is able to accept Mac or PC-based files as long as they conform to the guidelines below. We will resize and preflight your artwork to fit the product’s imprint area at no charge. If you do not have artwork that meets the specifications below, our graphic designers are able to take whatever you have (including the proverbial “napkin” design) and turn it into electronic artwork suitable for your current need and future projects. The first 30 minutes of art prep are provided at no charge.
Acceptable file formats
- Adobe Illustrator CS2, CS1, or 10.0 (or earlier) Preferred – All placed images and fonts must be provided. To avoid type style conflicts, type must be converted to outlines or curves.
- Adobe Photoshop 6.0 (or earlier) – For 4-color process only.
- Quark Xpress – 4.1 (or earlier) - All placed images and fonts must be provided.
- Any Vector-based EPS file (created in Corel Draw, Freehand or Illustrator.) All placed images and fonts must be provided. To avoid type style conflicts, type must be converted to outlines.
- Important! Do not place low-resolution graphics into an EPS file. Nesting, placing or importing a low-resolution graphic into EPS file will result in creation of an EPS file that will not work for promotional products.
Formats That Will Require Additional Work
- PowerPoint graphics, JPEGs, TIFFs, graphics from web sites, printed material, word processing programs, “generic” publishing programs, MS Publisher, embroidered articles, pictures (digital or otherwise) are examples of artwork formats that need additional graphic design work.
- Images used in websites (JPEGs, GIFS) are not acceptable for promotional product printing. The resolution is typically 72 dpi and the resulting image would not meet quality standards.
Image Tips
- Placed or imported images used in the artwork (EPS, PICT, TIFF, etc.) must be provided with production file. Images must be a minimum of 600 dpi or higher. Images used in websites are not acceptable for promotional product printing. The resolution is typically 72 dpi and the resulting image would not meet quality standards.
Color Tips
- If more than one color is required, please make sure that the file can be separated into PMS Spot colors. If the artwork file is submitted for 4-color process, there may be charges to convert to spot colors. Have questions? webhelperone@bantapromo.com. Along with your production file we will require a faxed-hard copy of the color separation for reference. Contact our office for details.
Acceptable ways of sending artwork
- Email: send to: webhelperone@bantapromo.com . Avoid using self-extracting files since our virus protection program flags and deletes these types of file. Files over 7 Megs will require transferred via FTP. Please contact us for instructions. (It’s real easy)
- We can accept Win Zip compressed file types, 3.5” floppy disks; CDs; 100mb and 250mb ZIP disks.
